Summer is at its peak and with it the many vacations of people taking time off from the hustle and bustle of daily life. For educators, this is the time to get a much-anticipated break before the new school year starts. With so many destinations to choose from, it can be overwhelming to figure out where to go and what to do—but that's nothing a little science can't solve.

 

Here are the top five places for "Amazing Science Adventures" around the globe:

Bioluminescence, Costa Rica: Enjoy a mystical biological adventure in Costa Rica's Nicoya Gulf, near the southern end of the Nicoya Peninsula, where nighttime kayaking tours allow you to see the bioluminscent nature of the diverse marine animals and microbes that make their homes in the brilliant waters.

Island of Odaiba, Japan: When you think of a center of technology and engineering, Japan comes to mind. A country rich in both culture and technological advancement, Japan offers several destinations that are a future or current engineer's dream. Odaiba is one of the man made islands that surround Tokyo. The island consists of a series of smaller islands that are joined by large landfills and developed into a popular shopping and entertainment district that attract tourists from around the world. Some of Tokyo's largerst and boldest architectural creations are housed on the island including the Telecom Center and the Tokyo Big Sight.

National Radio Astronomy Observatory, New Mexico, USA: If you want to stay within the borders of the Unites States, there are plenty of places that are sure to pique your scientific interest. One in particular is this southwestern observatory comprising 27 radio telescopes that are grouped together to function as a powerful interferometer. Astronomers have used this technology to observe black holes, protoplanetary disks around young stars, and many other captivating sights that provide new knowledge about radio emissions. Great for any astronomy enthusiast, this place is sure to keep you entertained.

Grand Canyon, Arizona, USA: If you consider yourself a geology enthusiast and find yourself looking for an adventure in the U.S., look no further than the Grand Canyon in Arizona. This massive canyon is carved by the Colorado River and houses many differerent plant life, geological structures, and is one of the most widely toured sites in the United States. Aside from taking walking tours and casually sightseeing, a number of other activities can be done in this park. Hiking, running, rafting, and helicopter tours are popular activities that tourists and locals enjoy.
