After teaching fifth-grade science for over six years, in addition to teaching multiple other subjects to third-, fifth-, and sixth-graders in a self-contained classroom, Katy Grose has become an expert in creating and writing curricula that engages students.
Currently an art teacher for grades K-4, Katy has worked jointly with STEMscopes for six years. One of her colleagues tells us that “Katy has been writing for us for some time now, and there’s never a task that she can't handle. She is thorough and quick. She works with multiple grade levels and has a creative, fun-loving side that shows in everything she writes, as well as through her interaction with others. She is a hard worker who is dedicated to writing lessons that are best for students.”
Katy earned her master’s degree in education, after first receiving a bachelor’s degree in psychology. She is enthusiastic and enjoys many things about writing curricula for STEMscopes. Writing creatively in both math and science provides Katy a wide variety of lessons and activities to address, and keeps her constantly energized and learning.
Outside the classroom, Katy shares a terrific love story with her husband. After many years apart, she reconnected with and married her childhood sweetheart, an accomplished musician who has played in bands around the world. She has two children, as well as a couple of beautiful grandchildren with whom she loves to spend time. The couple also has three dogs: two adorable mini-beagles and a huge, hairy Anatolian Shepherd. When she’s not writing, Katy enjoys reading, going to the beach, and working on quilting and other textile projects.
We’re incredibly lucky to have such a talented curriculum writer share her talents with us!
